Term-Plus© lets you store multiple keystrokes and send them to the host system by pressing one of the buttons you see displayed along the bottom of the main terminal window. These keystrokes are called "Macros", or "Macro Strings". Macros are most often used to store commonly-used key sequences, but can hold any 100 characters you choose. It is not a good idea to store your account number or password in a macro string. Always use an AutoPilot for them so that you won't inadvertantly give away a copy of Term-Plus© with this valuable information installed right in the program. Since telecommunications services often require <CTRL> characters (<CTRL> characters are those you send by holding down the COMMAND or CONRTOL key and then pressing one of the letter keys), Term-Plus© macro strings can contain such characters. To insert a <CTRL> character, enter a caret ("^") followed by the letter that corresponds to the control character you want to use. For example, <CTRL>'C' would be entered in a macro string as "^C". Even though you have to enter two characters to put a <CTRL> character into a macro string, they still occupy only one of the 100 allowed characters. If you need to include a real caret in your macro string, enter two of them, as in "^^". The Macro Strings dialog also lets you select a title for each macro button. The title should be 6 characters or less, but use enough characters to allow you to quickly recognize what each button will transmit.
